Watches to wear with your flight jackets...

I was told to stand down from an AK vs. AR argument but this is almost as good. Really I'm just kidding around. If I were a rich fucker I would definitely buy a Submariner 6538 restored...
Comes down to budget. Though I replace my watch every few years out of boredom, I’d do the same with Rolex if I had the cash. Why not. If you can’t get some enjoyment out of your hard earned money, what’s the point. To each his own. If I told my Rolex collecting brother I paid 2 grand for a jacket he’d tell me to get my head examined. Gotta pay to play ;)

I don't want to offend anyone, but Rolex is not a brand I appreciate. The watches are good... no doubt about it (although many are overrated). But this brand has business practices that I don't like at all.
Rolex takes advantage of its reputation and creates an artificial scarcity that has the effect of driving up second-hand prices. This incites some people to make investments with the sole purpose of making money. I find this unworthy of a great watchmaker.
I love vintage Rolex, but the modern philosophy of the brand and everything that revolves around it is really shitty.

But... fortunately there is Tudor ;)

But there are a LOT of watch brands that are more interesting than Rolex ! :p

100 percent. They are quite plain I guess.I’ve only seen my brothers and other then time and date , there’s nothing else. But I’m not into watches so the miracle of the inner workings and the ability run them over with a bulldozer is lost on me. You need that appreciation to enjoy it ;)

So stay away from that. When my mind is not tormented by the desire for a new jacket, then it's the desire for a new watch that takes over ! :D

I was actually thinking about good wear jackets and the price the other day. I have no idea what johns overhead is, price of materials or how many man hours he puts into a jacket, but when I put in perspective I don’t think it’s unreasonable. I know many people who have been dinged close to that amount on a brake job on their car. 2 hour job. I think it just seems alot because we’re so used to buying Chinese stuff from Walmart etc, no doubt made by cheap child labour. But a hand crafted custom leather jacket in this day and age. Probably quite reasonable.

Well, you know, I love steam locomotives too (yes, I do ), but strangely enough I'm much more reasonable about them.
Yeah, your going to need a bigger back yard for that. Buddy of mine is into it. He volunteers at the antique train museum on the weekends. Pretty cool stuff.

Great ! Volunteering is the way to go, but it takes time that I don't have. To be considered when I'm retired (at 72 years old, the way things are going).

Yes. I’m seeing that on the news every day. Guess it would be a bad time to visit Paris
