That would be neat. I figured at least 60s but couldn’t tell for sure if they’d date to WWII or if there even is a way to date it to that time unless the production methods changed (I’ve seen modern versions of these same patches) during the war or immediately after, I guess
I recently picked up my first A2 - a Cooper. While I know it’s not period accurate it was $40, in great shape, fit well (and it’s an early 90s one with the side panels).
It came with these two patches glued onto the shoulders. I was able to get all the glue off and given the jackets age figured...
Is it okay to resurrect threads like this? If so, has anyone had any Luck with just wetting the sleeves and shoulders (my main areas of focus) and shrinking those? (Chrome tanned goat A2)
I got a slightly older goat A2 (wouldn’t call it vintage). It has two insignia patches that were glued, not stitched and half coming off already. Certainly an aftermarket patch job. I’d like to remove them. Any tips for removing the glue residue underneath?
Thank you! And thanks for fielding all the questions yes, Russet goat. I got the lighter .9-1mm weight goat and still surprised by its heft. I got matching thread and what Shawn lists as “seal brown” knits.
One thing I wasn’t sure on was sleeve length - how they’re supposed to fit. I took a custom dress shirt (which has some excess built in for movement already) and just added .25” for creasing. When I hold my arms at my sides and bend at 90 degrees (a common test for dress shirts sleeves) - theres...
Given how often I’ll get to wear a jacket given my location, I just wanted something made of good leather that I wasn’t afraid to beat up. I also didn’t want to get too caught up on authenticity, and a good solution presented itself in the form of the Five Star Waldo Pepper Jacket - a jacket...
Huh. Glad I asked! The length and sleeve were the two measurements I was least sure of and I’m toggling back and forth between a 25” length and a 24.75” length, so maybe the 25.
does it also depend on the thickness? I’m looking at a lighter weight goat compared to a heavy horse
I’m sure it depends in part on cut and leather thickness, but for most A2s do you find that they stretch overtime, say from the arm bending at the elbow or the back and shoulders moving, or do they tend to “shrink” say from creasing at the arm or molding to the back. Is this something to take...
