They aren't all that different than those used on the cuffs of the M-51 and M-65 field PARKA. Additionally, they are very similar to US Army raincoats of the same period. If you buy anything from me in my Etsy/Bonanza/Gunbroker listings (all under "nagmashdriver") I'll send you several buttons...

Indeed, Israeli surplus is PDR for "pretty damned rare"! Many years ago in the mid 1990s I saw a surplus store in Los Angeles with Israeli old-school tanker helmets; I bought one or two but I still don't know why I didn't buy them all! Oh yeah, I wasn't on ebay yet, that's why!!

I have two of the late Jeff Warner's "US Navy Uniforms" series (of seven, I believe) and nowhere did I ever see the word or acronym of "GOB". This is in addition to the many other, lesser works on USN uniforms. If you ever find out what it is, if at all, please update your post!
