Greetings all, Wondering how long the various contractors continued to use goatskin in this era ? How far into the 1970’s did the goatskin go before changing to leather ?

Like the idea of sourcing the mouton for the collar - I did exactly that on my Martin Lane, same contract and size in fact. US Wings helped me with the process and it looks amazing I must say. Just needs to be worn and weathered a little and it will settle down :)

Just came across this discussion of the (1969) Martin Lane. Think I might try FlightJackets.com for the mouton collar replacement. Will confirm with that burn test first though. When I called them, I was quoted 150.00 for a mouton collar replacement.

Greetings All, quick question about these trousers regarding size. What is the general rule of thumb on sizing these to actually wear? I'm seeing larger sizes out there, but how large is needed to wear over normal clothing, like to the snow, etc. I have a sweet N-2A that would go very nicely...

Paperclip Puller - interesting. Was this a unique style puller as opposed to the usual steps they used in other makes?

Wow thanks Mike for letting me know on this. Had never seen one like this so thought it was some kind of added thing when the original broke. Variations abound on these G1’s I guess. I do the love this jacket and it is my daily wear preference - heavy duty (thick) leather in this one.

Just curious if anyone out there has seen a zipper pull on the G1 like this one from Orchard MFG, (1986).
