Yup, Southern New Mexico. We've had a tough winter by our standards this year. Icy in the AM but afternoons warm up into the high 40's and 50's. Getting up to the sixties by this weekend. Methinks the lovely way the throttle snaps and exhaust note cracks compensates for cold toes in the morning ;)
Thanks for explaining that David :) There were a lot of threads lately on CWU's and thought it was time I had one. I find it just right on a motorcycle this time of year.
Hi Guy's- just today received a Propper Intl. Inc. 45/P used off the bay - label says Mil-J-83388E, SPO100-00-D-4030, 100% ARAMID. Everything about it looks and feels authentic as heck. Paid 70.00 shipped and it's in almost new condition. If anyone knows I'm just wondering why it doesn't say CWU...
Thanks, that's basically what I did except to use tennis ball cans in place of my wrists. Once dry, half the fight has gone out of the elastic and they lost the gorilla grip. The effect seems permanent so I'd be careful to use that method in stages if not sure how far to go.
Guys, I think we need to be a little more objective here. Which jacket a person wants to wear has a lot to do with their current personal tastes, not just their budget. I think the pursuit of perfection in a repro is an acquired taste and a process in and of itself. The gent who began this...
Thanks Mac- I checked them, they're manly sized wrists but not quite primate sized :). I think you're right and it's the cuffs themselves although the sleeve is pretty springy at the end. I may try sticking a tennis ball can in each overnight as I can't imagine them loosening up anytime soon on...
I have to agree with everyone that this was a fair transaction and the seller owes you nothing. Since you are having buyers remorse and the seller does accept returns, why not contact him and be totally honest. You could admit to him you overestimated it's condition and you won't be happy...
Here's the best pic I have at the moment displaying the cuffs. Having a shirt cuff between my skin and the wool cuff helps a lot. The cuffs themselves are stripping the hairs from my wrists....

Just arrived yesterday, purchased off the Bay. It's my first Aero, a 1756 contract in oil-pull HH, about 2 years old and in great shape. Chose it one size up and thrilled to say it fits me better than any A-2 I've owned before. The hide is thick and supple and I can move freely though it's not...
I can appreciate what you say, having once paid 400 bucks for a new jacket and realizing pretty soon that I owned a piece of depreciated mediocrity. Since then I've bought and sold used examples of the better jackets to see what I like and what I don't and found there really is quality out...
Some people drive and enjoy Corvettes even though they can afford a Porsche. If this were a sport car forum, this thread equates to a guy starting a topic about a ZR1 only to have the Porsche 911 lovers chime in that Corvettes aren't worthy of discussion because they're not Porches. Sounds...
As someone contemplating an Aero Bronco myself, I'm interested to hear more about the cut, fit, hide and subtleties enjoyed by it's owners. After reading most of the replies, I'm left wondering how a brand new 700 dollar Goodwear Bronco would compare with a brand new 700 dollar Aero Bronco.
Uh, deep chested maybe a better word and wide across the back. Fit, not fat. If I were a skinny malnurished WW2 pilot I'd wear a size down and the shoulders would square up nicely. As it is the epaulettes are about 5/8" too long and hang off a bit. I see that a lot on pics of A-2 repros being...
Hey B.D.,
I did query Charles about it at the time but it turned out to be a moot point. If the tape is held at the top of the back to the epaulet edge it does indeed read 19". Practically though it is 20" measured between the outer edge of the shoulder seams at the top of the epaulet. This...
