Hello - Can anyone provide an overview or point me to some reliable reference documentation that describes what uniform items were designated to be worn under the G-1 flying jacket family? Additional bonus information would include an explanation of the criteria used to determine when the...
It's an overall fantastic jacket but for me personally the deal-killer would be the exposed front zipper. If it was covered by dual flaps...like a G-1 front...that'd be much nicer-looking. Just quibbling... :)
That's the Passaic Model 100. Still in production under their Police line of clothing. I always liked that jacket a lot. Great design for a motorcycle jacket...everything you need, and nuthin' you don't.
"This overpriced oddly-fitting garment will wear more quickly then a properly tanned and dyed quality horsehide jacket but it possesses all the diluted stylistic references that today's Williamsburg Lumberjack craves, and it will look crackerjack with your ridiculous $300.00 Tellason jeans -...
Nice find! That squared-off windflap top looks more like a 50's G-1 flap design then a 40's-era jacket would have...but I don't know nuthin', really. You found this in a friend's hangar?!? Wow...I mean..that is like barn-finding a Faliero Masi bicycle, or gold coins under the attic floorboards.
That is a much nicer design then the actual A-2. Probably more expensive per-piece to produce, though. There is a commonly-seen photo of A. Earhardt wearing a tight-fitting jacket that is similar to this, but it seems to have a knit A-1 style neck configuration. I always thought that was a...
Not piling on, but taking the whole "Authenticity" component out of the decision and just looking at it as a jacket...the GW is far superior. Pocket spacing, sleeves, and fit thru the body on the BK just look.....off.
Nice-looking jacket, and very close to what is my ideal for a leather flying jacket...see the one that Earhart is wearing in the pic below, left side. The jacket you've made...more tightly fitted, would be pretty much exactly what I'd want. Nice work indeed!
