Here's the guy's profile page. You probably already tried to contact him?
I think you're gonna have to be upfront and say "I just want to know if you still have the jacket. I'm obviously willing to pay a fair price as I want to pass it on to my children.
If you do not want to sell, that is...
personally, i've never worn my original star sportswear A2 in public. only around the house to "play dress-up" ;-)
reasons being the knits should be darned and i can't explain it...i just feel something will happen if i wore it even occasionally. BUT i do not think twice about wearing my 1964...
well, this jacket is nearly 80 years old and still looks remarkably good for its age. it hasn't developed much of a patina. and at this point, that would probably not be a good thing if it did. i also doubt it has ever been conditioned, as it's pretty damn stiff. yeah, yeah, horsehide is...
thanks all. yup, it the star sportswear. i used two LIGHT coats of Bick 4. didn't do anything obvious. softened up the leather a touch, a subtle sheen. did NOT darken the leather. then i found a brand new package of shamwow rags or whatever from my dad. not cotton, but soft and did the trick.
what's the softest, most gentle cloth for buffing leather after applying a bit of conditioner? i have one soft microfiber i use for shoes, but it's too soiled to use for a vintage flight jacket.
something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Cleaning-Polishing-Cloth-Leather-goods/dp/B00YMMH7BW
Thank you!
Now the question is "where to wear it?" you know, without being so overly paranoid that it gets in the way of me enjoying my day.
It's funny, i don't think twice about wearing my 1964 C series G1. And the A2 is only 22 years younger.
One thing's for sure... The zipper works...
Interesting timing for me to read this thread. After having my thrift store found star sportswear A-2 sitting under my bed for like 1.5 years, I was started thinking "what good is it sitting under there? It's still just a jacket. enjoy it!"
Which does not mean I'm going to be reckless with it...
Haha! Well, it's really the drive time more than anything. I'll just admire the Ralph Edwards awesomeness some more to placate myself... but yeah, if the schott was staring right at me for $40, it would be mine.
You're response will probably "its a pandemic, what else you gotta do? Take a drive!"
I'm a sucker for a deal. There's a Schott G1 A2M (probably 674?) sorta locally. I can get it for $40. Still a 3 hour round trip. And try as I might, I can't think of one good reason I need it when I have a perfectly good 1964 Ralph Edwards G-1 at my disposal.
Besides, I think 7 leather jackets...
Yeah, I think that's the plan. I bought the talon pull because I haven't seen anything even as close as that one in a while. For $10 shipped, i splurged. Lol!
We all love clothes. I am intrigued by some "hypebeast" pieces because of well, the hype surrounding them.
This one has to be at the top of the phenomenon. 2001 Raf Simons Riot bomber. It's LITERALLY an army surplus Fostex camo MA-1 with custom patches. Cool patches... david bowie, bauhaus...
I just bought this one for $6 plus shipping maybe I just pissed money away, but I literally just spent HOURS over thinking it. Haha!
I know it's not the right shaped wire. I was thinking of swapping the whole puller itself. But I'll decide when I see it in person...
