Discussion: Would you consider buying a painted repro?

The original post relates to the question regarding a painted image of a woman on a leather jacket in which the buyer feels comfortable wearing it only at a military events and not in general public. He expressed that wearing it to other places would brand him as a male chauvinist. There’s no...

Discussion: Would you consider buying a painted repro?

Many years ago I ran into "Tex" Hill, ace pilot of the Flying Tigers. He pointed out that my AVG patch on my jacket was on the wrong shoulder. Other than that, he had no problem with me wearing a jacket with "something" to which I had not earned. He was flattered. I still have some repros with...

Discussion: Would you consider buying a painted repro?

In my youth, I bought a repro. That jacket had patches everywhere and I painted a girl on a bomber on the back with little torpedos . I wore it everywhere and not once gave it a second thought about what others would say. Today most of my leather jackets have no patches except one has a small...

I'm enjoying this thread with the different views and all. I haven’t been here in a while. The only one familiar is Scott (ButteMT61). I remember him from that other place that has a lounge and you have to remove your fedora before going in! :D

What got you interested in A2 type Jackets

Regardless of whether there was only one A2 or a hundred.... it was the spirit of these “cowboys of the sky” that first captivated my interest. The leather jacket cemented that feeling forever. ;)

    14AF - AVG - Flying Tigers

Labor of love. She probably made the patch as an homage to her dad who served in WW2. This was in her page, sharing memories. I found this one online. It’s listed as original circa 1944. I know zero about patches, stitching or aging of leather. I’ll let the experts chime in on this...

A2 jacket fit - honest opinions requested

Totally agree...looks great ! Btw: I just realized that you’re in England! My favorite tennis tournament...Wimbledon! I love everything about the place. Their was a time when the British would broadcast the matches on the telly over here for us in the U.S. That was the best. They knew when to...

A2 jacket fit - honest opinions requested

Several years ago, I attempted some “home-made” remedy to a leather jacket. All I can say is that fortunately, it wasn’t a very expensive jacket. (probably that’s why it didn’t work...cheap leather) But I will never, ever do something to any of my fine $$$ jackets. Even if Mr. Good-to-Wear...

A2 jacket fit - honest opinions requested

I like the Dubow because it has just enough trim & still be comfortable to wear. The RW appears to have a more pronounced trim & I feel I would be limited to what I could wear underneath that jacket. Just my 2¢ !

    Photoshop is great

I took this picture from the TV screen. It’s not the best shot. But I didn’t notice any back seams on their jackets. Perhaps you are referring to another type of back seam. And If they are not real A-2s as you say, they sure look nice nevertheless.
