It’s got a nice blanket type wool lining . It’s a warm jacket but in freezing weather I think I’d like to have something like a heavy sweatshirt or vest under it. Here’s a picture of the lining .

I've heard that the Hartmann jacket from ELC is pretty hot. The lining is made of wool.

Kermit, it's cotton moleskin. You heard right; my only (so minor) niggle with the jacket is not really being comfortable unless it's quite cool outdoors. Based on last winters' experience here on the Mid-Atlantic US coast a long sleeve T or light sweater underneath is fine for sub-freezing weather. I'd recommend this bit of kit to anyone, and would love to add a Hartmann to the stable.

Despite the wool lining, my cyclist jacket (not the Eastman model) is not really warm. At least not warmer than an A-2 jacket. It's fine for spring and autumn but not suitable for the coldest days of winter.
