Thanks for noticing that.
Wish I had found two jackets this past few weeks instead of pants. Still, it's nice to see these things, even if this pair is past its best.
The second set of flight pants I recently acquired. Now up on ebay:

Here's a recent acquisition: A size 46 "A"-series LW Foster contract (are these called "a" series, despite not carrying the letter?). Immaculate original collar and conmar zipper. This has the red/maroon shade to the goat hide that you see in some of the A-series.
I've had a few buyers back out of a sale too. Go through the unpaid item report, or get the buyer to initiate cancellation of the transaction and you should get your fees back. This way it's annoying but not costly, however, you do miss out on selling to the guy who bid the second highest amount.
Re: When did Ebay start charging a final value fee on shippi
To be fair, ebay didn't charge a commission on shipping in the past, and that led to some sellers charging a tiny fee for the item, with (say) $50 shipping (when the real shipping cost was no more than a few dollars), thereby...
I've seen split-back G1's... but they don't usually have military labels. Does yours have a USN stamp on the wind flap?
It might be early Avirex G1s that had split backs (certainly A2s do)... or it might be some 1970's civilian manufacturer like Schott etc. I've definitely seen them on ebay...
Many thanks for the clue. I didn't think of an x.
I did a quick google search. Rex Fennel (deceased) was a helicopter pilot for some commercial helicopter companies in the late 1960's in Corpus Christi, Texas (maybe he formerly worked for the navy, I have not been able to find any info on...
Hi again,
I recently acquired this jacket, and am trying to find out more about it.
Size 50.
Label reads:
Model G-1
Flying Jacket
Contract No.261953
Flying Equipment Co.
Chicago 13, ILL
Serval Zipper.
It has had various NASA patches sewn on.
A nametag appears to have been removed from the...
Hi bob,
Right now I am still thinking I will keep the RE and see how I feel about the length: It is just about acceptable... my main concern with length is that I get a bad lower back at times, and need to keep it from getting in the cold wind, so coverage is really important. Still, it's such...
Thanks for the welcome! This is a great forum; now I figured out how to use the search properly there are lots of great photos.
I much prefer the G-1... the A-2 looks good on everyone else but me it would seem.
Last photos for now...
This one doesn't have a label, but I think it is a mid-1970's Imperial Leather 7823E cowhide, ~sz 46. It's a lighter more reddish brown than the other seal-colored jackets. The fit is really nice, and it's the longest of all the size 46 G-1's I have tried on. I wish it...
