M442 and M442A dates

Hi Everybody

Can anyone just give me the approx dates of manufacture for the MM442, M442A, ANJ and then when the G1 came in... :D

I am aware that, roughly, the M442A dates are supposed to be 1941-43, whilst the ANJ is 1944-1945 and the G1 came in at around 1947....but how accurate a generalisation is this?

Thanks in advance... :D

Kind regards

Here's what I know...if I know it :? :

M-422: late 1940-mid 1941
M-422A: mid 1941-1943
AN-6552: 1943-44
AN-J-3A: 1944-47?

Apparently the last 3 types are identical for any given maker - the new codes were just for BuAer record keeping.

Type G-1 starts with the 55J14 in 1947.

I have kept records over many years on m442a and G-1 info like production dates and never really noted where they all came from, sad to say. I guess I could look back on some...but......too much work! ....just take my word for it............and don't bet on them!!!! :p

David, Check page 164 of Full Gear, where there is a complete list with all the days, months, years. BTW the M422A date is given as 10 Oct 1941, but this might be wrong of course!

Well?.......I don't have "Full Gear"....whatsit say :?:

The start dates are the same, except as Andrew notes ... 10 OCT-1941 for the M422A.

I don't think a week makes much difference.
