Aaron, rule #01- if you see anything with handwarmers or maps - run awaaay... :)

Wise words. That is a very poor approximation of an A-2. It's what usually referred to as a 'Mall jacket' ie. that's where it probably came from. A-2's never had handwarmer pockets-when they were designed in the 30's they didn't want military airmen putting their hands in their pockets, so it was the front patch pockets only. Some guys may have had escape maps sewn in their jackets, but nobody as far as I'm aware had their entire lining in the form of a map-it's a classic sign of a lousy reproduction A-2. Military A-2's had a plain cotton lining in shades ranging from brown to yellowish. Also no wartime military A-2 was ever that baggy-they were designed to be worn in a cockpit, so excess bagginess was not desirable. They were generally a fairly trim fit, although wartime photos show that some wore A-2's with a bit more room. If you could see a pic of that A-2 being worn, there would be a World of difference between that and the one Hacker posted a pic of. I expect you may have done so already, but if not, go have a look here at Marc Weinshenker's invaluable resource, Acme Depot.
