Unidentified shearling

What do you guys make of this wreck ? I recognise the waist straps and buckles as being from the suspenders of US flight pants so it's probably wartime vintage. I thought at first it was a modded D-1 but the collar is much too large. A rigger lash up perhaps ? I think it would be quite an attractive jacket if it was in better condition. The pockets are great.

These rigger made jackets appear quite regularly and they all seem to be very nicely made, particularly this one. There must have been some very skilled riggers around. I'm surprised that they had time to rig with all the jacket making and jump suit re-enforcing. :)
