I wonder if the A2 Rouwh Wear was most given at the pilots than other ?
Do you know that ?

What are the A2 of the Red Tails movie's pilots please ?

And, finally, what type of A2 you prefer and why ? I know, the last question is difficult, but this is just for curiosity :D

There has been discussion on VLJ before about A2 contract sizes, which is implied by your question whether RW A2s were given more to pilots than other makes of A2s. The last RW contract from the spring of 1942 was probably there largest judging by the number of 27752 jackets that come up for sale. The largest known contract was the Aero 18775-P contract which was awarded on 25th May 1942 for 50,000 A2s. The two previous Aero contracts were also large and was the 27798 Dubow contract. The last Perry Sportswear A2 contract (W33-038ac1756) and Dubow contract (W33-038ac1755) awarded on 13 June, 1944 were for 25,000 and 35,000 jackets respectively.

The question about favourite A2s has been asked here before. The stylish Dubow was at the top of the list.

Andrew is there a complete list of contract quantities for all makers ?
Actually whilst I have a list of all the contracts (Paddy's sticky on the Hat lounge) there are no dates.

Is there a definitive Maker, contract number, date period and quantity produced and easily to hand ?

Alan, there is no list with the precise dates and volume of each contract. The list in Full Gear has the fiscal year dates, but some of these are guessed and inaccurate.

I do have some additional information here from my own research:

Aero 38-1711-P Order date: Nov 8, 1937 (New York Times)

Rough Wear W535ac16159 7 October 1940
Aero W535ac16160, 7 October 1940 to Aero (Wall Street Journal)

Dubow W535ac20960, 17 September 1941 as it was issued just after the RW 1401-P
Rough Wear 1401-P, 17 September 1941
Werber 42-1402-P, 17 September 1941

Aero W535ac21996, 27th October 1941, (Poughkeepsie New Yorker) contract for 20,000 A2s

Aero 42-18775-P (25 May 1942) order for 50,000
Spiewak 42-18776-P (25 May 1942)
United Sheeplined42-18777-P (25 May 1942)

Dubow W33-038ac1755(11631) (13 June 1944) order for 35,000
Perry W33-038ac1756 (13 June 1944) order for 25,000
Bronco W33-038ac1761 (Mid June 1944)

Somewhere I have read on the number of USAAF personnel during WWII. Did this number include replacements, say from 1941-1945 there were 350,000 USAAF personnel, then 20,000 MIA/KIA, so 370,000??? Of that 350,000 (I made this number up) I wonder how many were aircrew. How many were issued A-2s. How many nonaircrew (flying crew chiefs/MX troops) were issued an A-2 (not scrounged)

Then to tie this to the thread about how many A-2s were produced by contract...ballpark???

The only way to find out about all A2 contract sizes is from the original government papers in the US archives.
