SHRINK A-3 CAP?

I have a NOS A-3 cap, absolutely dead mint and unworn, dated 1942. The beauty of this cap is it's missing the Air Force stamp on the outside, so I can one can wear it who wasn't in the AF, like myself. Anyway, it's a 7 1/8 and I'm wondering if it can be shrunk down to a size 7, meaning loosing a good half inch in circumference. Please let me know.

Skip a few haircuts, won't shrink much....will possibly wear looser as it gets older....

I believe that there are inserts to install in hats that are to big. don't even think about shrinking it. aint gonna happen,, and you would screw it up irreparably if ya try.
