Somebody at the 401st must have gotten the word that painted jackets sent to the refurb depot were being trashed.

I would love to know the story behind Rosie's Sweat Box. :p

WOW.....Thanks so much for posting those photos. What a great selection of painted A-2's!

It's interesting how some of the artwork has black bordering to accentuate the lighter color of the subject.

I find it amazing how fine much of the painting work is. Some of these guys are really accomplished artists.

Agreed Ted, thanks again for these Oose, they certainly are amazing and "Rosies" is stunning. Now that is jacket porn.

Thanks for posting! I copied them all to my harddisk.
Of course most of these, and more were published in Gary Valants "Vintage Nose Art", but this is as close to the original photographs we can get, with the type- and handwritten notes on them. Great stuff!

Which one? Vintage Aircraft Nose Art or Classic Vintage Nose Art? Amazon has both.

Vintage Nose Art: There is a review of the book in the Books & Film section that I wrote (can't seem to copy the link)

More great pictures, thanks again! In the last shot (Miss See Eyewanta) I notice that this young lady shows up nekked, but in the same pose on the back of 'Little Rock Blonde' as shown in the Maguire book............

Thanks for the link. Looks like they might be the same book with a different cover and slightly different name.
