I have seen those leather patches for the A-2 epaulettes showing the rank
I have seen captain's and colonel's ranks in gold and silver colors.

Like the ones shown below

My question is whether those came in white color as well?

anyone knows?

If you read the army regs and see pictures of original rank insignia second Lieut =gold, lieut and capt= silver, maj=gold, Lt col=silver and col silver. I have occasionally seen white theatre painted lieut bars on A2s.

Brigadier General: 1 silver star.
Lieutenant General: 2 silver stars.
Major General: 3 silver stars.
General: 4 silver stars.
General of the Army: 5 silver stars (usually only given in wartime).

One small item, as a young Officer Candidate I was taught to remember the General ranks as "Be My Little General", thus the order is actually:

Brigadier - 1 star, Major - 2 stars, Lieutenant - 3 stars, and General - 4 stars.
