Very nice work!
I have seen originals of this patch embroidered on wool felt too. Was never sure if they were prewar US made or Australian made early on, but my suspicion always has been US made. It is a great design, and from a unit that was in the thick of things in the opening days of the war in the Pacific.
Their Group patch (5th BG) is a classic as well, and I once saw the two on an A-2, and that was a real beauty. The jacket had the 5th BG design used below, but placed on a AAF blue circular background....again embroidered on wool felt.
