Hi gents,

Here are some pics of a few jackets I've recently bought.
I hope you'll enjoy.

1/ A-2 jacket, Perry Sportswear, size 42. Identified to an engineer of the 491st BG, 854th BS, 8th Air Force, based in Metfield.
I have an accident report concerning this crew, crash landed in july 1944 (out of gas), back from their 3rd mission. B-24J salvaged but no injuries for the crew members.

2/ another A-2 jacket, 1756 contract, size 36. Identified to a fighter pilot from the 358th FG, 466th FS, 9th Air Force. I have found something about him in an crash report concerning another pilot of the 366th FS, shot down in april 45 over Germany while strafing.
The colors of the P-47 match with the Fighter Squadron, but the chest patch is still unknown to me (not the 466th FS one). If anyone can help to identify it...
The jacket is in rough condition.

3/ a M-43 field jacket, dated april 44, from a crew member of the 493rd BG, 856th BS, 8th Air Force, based in Debach.
The number on the tail matches with a B-17 that belonged to this Squadron an came back in the US in 1945. Unfortunately, nothing about any identification of the original owner...
This jacket was bought on ebay recently, the seller gave me a "second chance offer".

Tim,
That 1st jacket is a true beauty!!! ;) The back painting is awesome!
On the Casseria jacket, have Jeff @ AGM let you know if he ever gets
any info on the patch. He's a good guy, and will surely do so.
I tried to help him ID it when he had it, but nothing ever turned up besides
the vague crash report you have.

The first jacket is superb ,this is the style that the reproducers should be doing it screams 1940s at you.The painted backs today represent the subject and theme of the period but have that modern look to the style that is almost Avirex .Probably not the fault of the artist but what the jacket owner wants and he is the guy who puts the food on the table for the artist .

All the best Jeff .

WOW!
These jackets are gorgeous! I think I fell in love with the first jacket! The art is outstanding! But the other two, each alone are very very beutiful jackets. German notations like "achtung" are fairly rare on jackets I think, the only other jacket I - with my limited knowlage - know of is the jacket named "Der Großarschvogel" (The Big Butt Bird).
Thanks for sharing!!
