Original WW2 A-2 flight jacket. Stamped Army Air Force inside on liner and written "Capt. L.W. Johnson.". W535AC 27798 by J.A. Dubow Mfg. Co. Chicago, Ill. That order number apparently was fulfilled April 25, 1942.

That one definitely looks like the sleeves were shorten and probably the reason the attempt at replacing the sleeve knits ended up badly .

My 44” 27798 has shorter sleeves! I don’t have short arms(!) but not a prob with normal wear, only if say when driving you stretch your arms then they do ride up a tad!!

Listed as 20“ sleeves? got a 44“ chest… even if we dream adding a 2 1/2“ kitted cuff….
Sorry but… this is a definitely butchered sleeve /arms… case… not really an issue for real pro-restaurers..but surely not budget as maybe expected and hoped for…sorry for the low cost apostles
