These appear to be the same type shoes, offered by What Price Glory at less than the current bid:

The WPG website clearly identifies the shoes as having been made by SM Wholesale, as does the Ebay seller. However, as evidenced by the bids there are obviously those among us who have no idea that SM Wholesale was not a government contractor in WW2.

I've sent a message to the seller advising him of the situation in hopes that he'll amend his listing, although the typical "estate sale find" and "as found" BS tend to dim my optimism. In the meantime, let the buyer beware . . .

I came across a similar issue with a M-42 Para jacket being sold on eBay as an original WW2 one despite the label saying SM Wholesale, it took several e-mails to finally get the seller to admit it was a repro and ammend his listing by which time many bids had been made. Guess it shows the SM stuff is good quality!

I wrote him too(not as tactfully) and he has changed his description. Upstanding of him BUT I hope those who have already bid see the correction before the auction closes.

High bid is now only $82. Apparently the revised listing caused previously uninformed bidders to rethink their strategy. Kudos to the seller for doing the right thing even if it cost him money.
