Did B-3 jackets ever have a chest insignia sewn on?

Or was the skin to fragile to hold the stitch without tearing?

Although it was done, the A-2 seems to have been the jacket that was more commonly decorated with unit patches rather than the B-3. No problem with them staying in place once sewn on, though.

This is all true. I have owned several B-3s which had name strips sewn on the chest.

Thank you for the feedback. Do you think a leather backing disk would help? the Few has several B-3's with squadron patches shown.

Don't think you need it-I know the nametag on my B-3 was going nowhere once it was sewn on. B-3 weight sheepskin is plenty tough enough.
