Black A-2?

Is a black A-2 a thing? I have just seen this picture and thought I would run it by the experts on the forum.

Poorly colorized B&W photo. Those jackets were all varying shades of brown.

Black A-2s were not a thing. Some of the depot re-dyes were VERY dark brown, to the point where they were almost black, but you could still tell they were brown if you compared them to actual black leather.

Hi folks,

An effect like the one indicated via the initial picture is in fact related to the poorly colorizing of the b&w picture. However, as I remember, slide films from the '40s/'50s like Kodachrome can give that color, where seal-brown looks almost black. In certain conditions even lovely Velvia 50 can give this color saturation.
