Nice patches!
The USAAF "Aviation engineers" of course has to do with troops responsible for building, renovating, establishing
airports, run ways control towers and related facilities in recently occupied territories (very active in Normandy)
so construction related. Think bulldozers etc...ground personnel...which explains the rifle embroidered on the patch
The USN engineers patch has to do with inflight "engineering"... (flight engineer...technical trouble shooter, a crew member)
Different field... which explains the issuance of a flight jacket and propellor incorporated in the patch design.
Both lovely examples, especially the G1!
the SF is well knowed but the second is not often recognised.
following the ebay seller's description, he is called ''flying seabees''.
can someone confirm, detail this second patch ???
The SF patch appears to be a repro based on the embroidery
and the other wing (claimed to be flying seabees???) looks like its some kind of biker patch...
Note the motorcycle rider incorporated in design...
not military as far as I can tell...Don't always believe ebay product descriptions!
Hey Marcel nice patch there, your patch and the other one posted are of a different nature, yours dealt with base/runway construction etc ,where the other patch is a "Flight Engineer" and with a Naval Patrol Squadron, his job would be keeping an eye on the aircrafts engines and thier maintenance a totally different job.
