Another older ELC house A-2

Yep,

Another older ELC house A-2, date unknown, but the label is the same as the ones in the Pearl Harbour jackets. The leather is light weight and very supple, lots of grain all over the jacket. I think this is also steer, but don't know for sure. It's pre-analine. My all day wear jacket during the summer, just over a T-shirt (size 38 while I am a size 40) . Hope somebody can help me date this jacket.

thanks and regards,

shiloh

I agree it's bovine in origin - the grain is very regular and has a soft look.

Hi,

Appologize for this stupid question but can you please explane what "Bovine" is. Never heard of it.

Is it a type/sort of leather. Is it cow or horse???

Thanks,

shiloh

Hi Shiloh

Bovine indicates that the item/animal is of or relating to/belonging to the genus Bos (cattle)

Similarly, equine (horse), porcine (pig), caprine (goat), etc.

A whole host of amusing ones here: http://www.wordquests.info/cgi/ice2-for ... HLIGHT=ine

Cheers

This looks very similar to my 'house' ELC in steer/cowhide or bovine if you prefer(!) albeit I wouldn't say it's lightweight - by comparison to an ELC 1401 and GW Doniger (Goat) I also have, the leather is quite thick and weighty. However, I bought that new from ELC (still got the bill - basically a rubber stamped note-let!) back in '92.

cheers
