Glad it went to a collector and member of this forum!
If it's as nice and solid as it looked in the pics, I'm sure
he will be very happy with it!

Some units do get confusing....the 316 Troop 'Sqn was in the Pacific whereas the 316 Troop' Group was in the 9th Air Force ETO, but then how did he end up with the 9th AF patch in the grouping? To some it lessons the interest with it being a Pacific-based Troop unit, any association with D-Day or Market Garden adds great value to any jacket. Still a nice on though.

The 9th AF patch came with the collection and the family said he was in Europe and in the Pacific. So an easy mistake to make. There is also a letter mentioning D-Day celebrations. Never mind I'm sure there will be some takers. It's a great, wearable A2.

Vet's families often get things confused, found that out researching so many aircrew over the years, stories get altered over the passage of time...like that famous WW1 story of sending the message down the line "send reinforcements we're going to advance"...ended up as "send three and fourpence we're going to a dance"!!

Just for the record this group sold for the BIN price of £649 to a collector in France, who is delighted with it.
