These two A-2s are on display at the Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham, AL -- thought you guys might like to see.

First, a Tuskeegee Airman's jacket:

Interesting re-lining, going all the way up to the collar!

Is there something in de display to suggest that the owner of the relined A2 was an ace? It is said, that once an ace, some pilots had their flight jacket relined with red silk. Could this be an example of that practice?

Correct! It's an A2 from the RW 18091 contract from 1941.

I was able to tell by leaning up close to my monitor and squinting to read the label.

... also the entire contract being goatskin is a big clue.

Does anyone outhere in "Patch" know how land recognise the seriously cool P-61/Owl patch on the "Rough Wear" A-2 as to a "Specific" unit ????

I would like to know if there is a unit ID to this one, never seen it before and would appreciate any info about it , thanks!!!!
