80th anniversary for A2 ?

The real Mccoy's website says:

A-2 became an official Army Air Corps jacket and began use on May 9, 1931.

Which would mean 2011 is the 80th anniversary for the A2.

Are they right, or what?

Must admit I didn't take the time to investigate myself, not even on VLJ.

1) put on your favorite A-2

2) stand in front of a mirror

3) sing "Happy Birthday"

I plan to...but having one hell of a time trying to decide between a lighter russet or dark seal chocolate birthday cake. Rust or dark brown icing? ..and should I add a little conditioner...and what kind?

Yes ...

  • Service tested in 1930, the A-2 was adopted as the regulation Army Air Corps
flying jacket on May 9, 1931.

You're on the right track, Van ... I'm going with the dark seal chocolate cake, and berry combination. ;)

I shall wear my Perry in acknowledgement of her 80th... well perhaps not Perrys 80th, but the design in general. That brings me to the question: which manufacturers were about in 1930/31...Aero, SAT?

Just Security, with Werber following on a year, or so later.
