Emblem Hunter, what does the patch these guys wearing look like ? it's washed out in the photo. Is it a variation of the 'Al Ataque' patch of the 461st BG ?

Hi 442RCT
It is really hard to see what that patches represent.
If you are sure they picture is from someone of the 461st BG, it probally the emblem of the 766th BS placed on a shield instead of a circle.
If you look at the 2 guys in the center. In the left one you can see a sign like an explosion and a kind of head (skull) in the middle. In the other you can see to signs close to the top corners of the patch, maybe bombs? At the bottom of both patches you can see a kins of dark triagule.

Roberto, the pic came from the 461st BG website. I noticed from looking at many of the pics, guys were wearing different patches on their jackets.

Hey 442RCT, after check the site it came from and what little detail I can make out, there "appears" to be a Bird(eagle) flying towards the left and "bomb/s" under him , the only Squadron in the Group that had the Bird/eagle was the 764th , thier emblem "Unofficial" that I have a copy of was on a round background and was of a Eagle/Bird gray with a white head carrying two red bomb underhim in his talons flying towards the right on a sky blue background bordered red, the latter 764th(Post war) has an eagle w/bombs and stars above him on a ringed background,, the jacket patches "appear" to be a "variation of the 764th on a "shield" instead of the standard disc, this happened in some units as they didn't always follows the regs for "squadron-disc" Group-Shiled" .

Hey RCT, another thing I just noticed looking atthe A-2 jacket art, the "Dragon" or whatever he is reminds me of he emblem for the
"Los Angeles AAF" gunnery field design, possibly where this photo originated at.

I was looking at that "Tail of the Dragon" art work too. It looks like a dragon smoking a cigarette, holding a smoking .30 cal belt fed machine gun with smoke rising from the muzzle. The lettering is oriental-ish, so I thought the jacket may have belonged to someone originally stationed with a unit in the Pacific theatre. The units of the 15th AF were stationed in European theatre.

Yes that's possible , but I was thinking along the lines of it being stateside nose art and the script could have been picked just by coinkadink, you know all the units were trained stateside before deploying , but this could just be a "coinkadink" that the dragon looks like the LA unit emblem.
