It's great to see the 508th FS' patch (the skeleton on the bomb) getting some face time. Rare patch to see; originally, this was designated for the 622nd Dive Bombardment Squadron, later associated with the 508th FS because of Mauer's book. It was never used "in-theater" by anyone in the squadron according to the guys I've talked to, but it was one of the squadron patches kicked around for use, but nobody got around to actually deciding. This patch IS shown & listed with the Smithsonian's archives of patches as the 508th FS'. Very nice rendition!
