Was thinking the same think about the bags. The Indiana Jones community would have a double barreled conniption fit if they could see the Mk VII bags. Many of them are quite the conservationists when it comes to preserving those bags in the original state.

That's right. He can argue that the bags have a limited use in their original state but once they've been trashed as handbags and wallets they'll get thrown away. All that great originally painted text just becomes meaningless code which he could have just stencilled on to some old canvas for the same fashion effect.
