2 Tone Buco J-100

Gents,

Just a quick note to show my latest project. Though, caps have been keeping me busy, I took the time to make a jacket.

Buco J-100 in 3 oz Horsehide. The body is made from pigment finished black, the sleeves, collar and insets are all a brown
aniline dyed HH in the same weight. All original Talon zippers throughout. Heavy cotton drill interior in black and OD #3
pocket linings. (Buco seemed to have a ton of this fabric laying around after WWII and extant examples often have this fabric)

Of note, I also used OD #3 thread... this is fun because I use the OD thread and then lightly hit the thread with a little brown aniline dye
which gives it that great, IMHO, aged look.

Though Buco never actually made a two tone, that I can find evidence of, I really like the subtle look. The last pic shows the
difference best.

Dave, I thought you said you were done with jackets? The world is better off with you still in the jacket game;)

Not really my cup of tea, but what a beautifully crafted jacket, well done.

Thanks gents!

Yes I was done with jackets for a while, but then I got a deal on a new sewing machine and learned a few new tricks from some of the likely suspects, et voila!!

I really do like this style of jacket... though I know it is not an A-2!

I have gone ahead and made my patterns for these in all sizes from 38 to 48

Do let me know if anyone is interested.

Lastly, new Post War, Moto style caps are also in the works!
