Hi: My father-in-law grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts, and got his first job as a kid sweeping floors at the Star Sportswear Manufacturing Company. I remember him saying that the owner of Star, Sam Kurland, was an exceptionally kind person who was loved by his employees. Sam was a Russian Jewish immigrant who loved the ideals of America and was fiercely patriotic. He wanted his workers to imagine that each and every jacket made was going to be worn by a son, brother or husband in harsh conditions and to make them accordingly.
Apparently they did.
Thanks, Jennison
