USAF flight jacket sleeve stencil question

With regard to the L-2B, the 1960 D contract is the last to feature the decal. I'm pretty sure the 8279A is the last MA-1 with decal, but I'm not 100% on this. However, I'm unaware of any orange-lined intermediate jackets produced with the decal. Units were indeed able to affix or replace decals...

Lost Worlds Custom "Speed Demon" #2

A few years back I posted photos of my two Lost Worlds "Speed Demon" jackets with various custom features including one-piece back panels, NOS brass Talon zips, concealed collar/lapel snaps, and leather-lined pockets. This week I had a rare opportunity to wear one in upstate NY temperatures as...

    1980 Gibraltar Tanker Jacket

When I served with the 4th Infantry Division the unit was considered low priority and did not receive the latest gear in most cases. Nomex clothing had long been the standard for aircrews but I guess tankers were expected to burn. We had the sateen summer as well as the lined winter mechanic’s...

    1980 Gibraltar Tanker Jacket

Nice scores! As a tanker during the late 1980s I certainly love these jackets, although on my base they were only issued to aviators. The crease on the pocket flap is purely coincidental and was not placed there intentionally.

    MA-1 variations

An unusual variant I've not seen before. I can't immediately rule it out as government issue although the use is uncertain. I wonder if such jackets are worn aboard commercial aircraft converted to government use? If an airliner goes down fire is probably the least of your worries!

    N-2A question

Sorry, I was referring to the basic design but I should have specified N-2B.

    N-2A question

I agree that these are a bit awkward looking but they're certainly functional. I saw plenty of them worn by aircrew at Griffiss AFB (NY) in the 1970s-80s, and they were still offered for sale at $50 each in the Fort Drum (NY) military clothing sales store in the late 1980s.

Are you able to post a pic of the label?

    CWU-45P and 36P in non-US service

The individual at left also appears to be wearing a US-issued GG-W-113 wristwatch.

    CWU-45P and 36P in non-US service

This is what I dislike most about the entire CWU family. Medium is too snug, Large is too long in the sleeves.

    CWU-45P and 36P in non-US service

I have a mint, unworn CWU-36/P with Australian spec label that a forum member kindly sent me years ago. It's never been patched but was clearly destined for non-US wear when produced.

    N-2B cuff replacement.

In my personal experience a good local tailor can do the work. The crucial aspect is sourcing the proper knits. For this I recommend MASH.
