    WW2 USNR aviator name tags

The hard part is getting the right width- I think the wartime ones were 5 inch wide whereas most repos are 4 inch wide. If anyone knows who makes 5 inch tags I'm in!

These were going for UAD$909! Almost the cost of a "real" repro!

    What the...

I was walking through Myer department store today and walked past Ralph Lauren when a mannequin caught my eye- there on a rack was about 15 of these! You may see a few more A2s on the street now!

    RAAF pilot, tropical dress.

With this gear I just use a bog standard ATP army issue watch with the broad arrow in a leather strap with cover.

    RAAF pilot, tropical dress.

Thanks for the comments guys. The "pistol" is a wooden cutout with Enfield grips and a lanyard loop attached- looks good in the holster and is totally safe/ legal. I should also mention that the H type mask has a postwar microphone in it which I need to fix with a wartime mike- I should have...

    RAAF pilot, tropical dress.

Just thought i would share the latest kit rollout- 1944/45 RAAF pilot, South West Pacific theatre. The chute is standard RAF/RAAF seat type with the dinghy pack fitted rather than the pad. The helmet is a wartime dated E Type with a wartime dated H mask and MKVIII goggles.

    The most valuable B-3 ever

Impressive B-3 to say the least- where is this kept these days?

    Eastman Irvin

I dunno Smithy- I've worn the ELC B-3 commuting for the past fortnight with no overheating problems! Its been below 10 most mornings when I leave... I reckon the Irvin will be fine. Besides- its as much for airshow and aircrew impressions as daily wear. Or maybe I just feel the cold a lot more...

By red ones, do you mean the colour of the jacket above John?

    Repro ACME Thunderers

You are correct Littlebuddy- if anything these are over-marked. Good thing really because as John said, they re still made, so not really repros. The extra stampings just separate them from the original 40's models and could assist with stopping fraudulent selling. Either way they are nice and...

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, the fleece and skin seem darker than the honeys out there but I kind of like it now that I think about it. I haven't seen it in the flesh so it may well be the tint of the camera but either way- not bad. John. I see what you mean by the belt loop- I had not...

    Repro ACME Thunderers

Saw these on eBay- report A^M ACME Thunderers- this one is sold aged but they have new chromed as well. Looks OK so I bought one and its on its way. At AUD$30, its cheaper than losing an original off your flight gear!
