Something to consider... I remember seeing a thread somewhere that the owner had a tailor remove the waistband and shorten it a few inches, then reinstall. It fit snugger and much better after that. I can't remember the original poster. Just a thought.
A concern is the .50 cal or Timeworn finish that all the ELC Rough Wear Winter Lined jackets undergo. This hand applied, hand sanded, artificial aging process will be slightly different on each jacket. So unless you see, or have detailed photos of, the actual jacket you are purchasing, the look...
It seems like we all did the same thing… I still have my first A=2, an Avirex A-2 Goat bought new in ’87. And just like yours, CoopDog, it has faded and darkened. I still wear it occasionally.

I’ve heard from several pilots of that era that the issued A-2 was usually so stiff that it could “stand on its own”. After its broken in I’m sure it has enlarged slightly, especially under the rigors of several hundred hours in flight.
