What color does Lost Worlds' use for their mutton collar: black or very dark brown?
It looks black to me, and to be honest it doesn't seem to match any of the brown hides very well. Am I off the mark?
Were any original mutton collars that dark when they were paired with brown hides (as in a...
Re: How Windproof/Water-resistant Are the Cloth Flight Jacke
Thanks for the clarification.
I have been wondering something else: what are the sleeves lined with?
Re: How Windproof/Water-resistant Are the Cloth Flight Jacke
Thanks for all the responses. I probably won't pick one up - for the purpose of skiing, at least.
I am surprised that the jacket isn't warmer, given that it has an alpaca and wool lining. That lining, along with the fact that it...
I have been considering acquiring a B-10 or B-15 repro - possibly for skiing. Are these coats are wind- and water-resistant as their predecessors?
On a related note, which jacket exactly was the B-10 (and later the B-15) designed to replace?
Thanks, deeb. I saw this last night and was also wondering what it was. It looked like a B-10, but I couldn't figure out why the front pockets were so small.
Seems very expensive for a cotton jacket.
One can find a B-10 for a little cheaper - though not much - in the States from HPA's website: the Buzz Rickson's are on sale.
I can't figure out why these are so pricey. The very similar B-15s from Lost Worlds are even a little more expensive.
Thanks for the very detailed reply, Dilbert: it answered many of my questions.
Here is another question: does anyone know what kind of tanning process is used for the goat in the G-1?
I had to do this many years ago as a Boy Scout: as another has said, it is not easy but doable. (I imagine it is much harder to do in full flight gear.) I would recommend trying it to prepare for emergencies: accidents happen, and you may find yourself overboard one day.
Thanks for the replies.
As for the windflap, I, too, have wondered if it was cut short so as not to interfere with ties. I wear ties easily with my G-1, but mine is not quite a vintage fit: it is a size 42, whereas I wear a 38.
Interesting thoughts about the collar. By the way, people must...
It makes sense to me that the UV rays would fade the color of the jackets over time, although I have no idea how long that would take.
Which jacket is in the middle? I like to contrast between the cuffs and the hide.
