Depot re-dye or depot paint ?

To the the people who have done a "depot" re-dye, what dye/paint did you use ?

Depot re-dye or depot paint ?

Thanks chaps, that, sort of, confirms my thoughts. Some depots used a thicker paint type acrylic which was more prone to later flaking and stripping of the underlying colour, such as Gary states in his book. Some depots used a thinner dye type which has proved more colourfast and durable. I...

Depot re-dye or depot paint ?

Hi chaps, I don't post much on here but always check in from time to time over the years to see what's going on. I've searched and searched through the forum and cannot find a definitive answer to this question. . . With A2 1943 depot re-dyes was a dye used or was an acrylic paint used ? In my...

    Aviation Leathercrft

I agree with the above. They're probably nice jackets for the man about town but the only authentic thing about them is that they're made of leather. Chrome tanned at that too.

Jacket Art in the Jet Age

http://www.jotaylor.uk.com/ww2_leather_flags.html This is a picture of my A2 that I had the artist paint the Korean War blood chit flags to from the artists web site (still can't figure out how to post photos). As you can see, I still need to get the wording done but can't figure out how best to...

    John Waynes Jacket

I found it impossible to tell if John Waynes jacket was one piece as he and the others have ridiculously large blood chits covering most of the back. As far as the film goes most of them proabably saw it as a piece of fictional nonsense but nevertheless enjoyed the cachet and glamour it...

    John Waynes Jacket

I watched the 1942 John Wayne Flying Tigers film last night. Does anyone know what A2 he wear's ? I'm thinking it's a non issue Hollywood prop as I'm sure I saw a press stud at the bottom of the zipper though I couldn't get a picture of it.

    ELC Flight Jacket DVD

Got the jacket, now watch the DVD. The ELC DVD arrived today and I enjoyed watching it. It contains interviews with both axis and allied airmen and crews about their jackets which adds a nice perspective to their products. It also shows how a B3 is made detailing some of the processes...

Are you a Flying Tiger ?

Has anyone else had any jacket causing incidents like the one that happened to me ? I was over in Hong Kong for a few days before Christmas and took my Eastman Pearl Harbour A2 with an Aero AVG blood chit on the back. Whilst mooching about the airport waiting for my return flight an oldish...

What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

I'm so cold here in Southern England I'm wearing my Aero B6 around the house. I'm looking forward to the summer when I'll only have to wear it outside.

    New Forum

Hello guys, I'm a newbie here. I joined the old forum a couple of months ago but sniffed around a while, doing a bit of "close quarter reconnaissance" and didn't actually post anything. For the record I've currently got three Eastman A-2's and an Aero B-3. I've had an A-2 jacket on my back for...
