I am pretty sure that the collar and zipper have both been replaced at some point. It doesn't really matter to me as this is just a beater that I wear daily in the winter. My other G1 is the one I was issued in 75 and I rarely wear it anymore...honestly, it is a bit tight on this old retired...
I am not a collector but I happen to have to have this one, no idea how old it is, the tag is long gone. I have seen the painted USN under the collar of G1 jackets before but, this one just has a U.S. painted on in yellow. Is this uncommon, common, something some jackleg did later?
