Helvetia pilot watch from the 1930's

Hi, thanks to the link to my site. I've just acquired the smaller type of the Helvetia watch above with the Helvetia 82A movement. Interestingly this is an example sold by Helvetia to Helbros in the US and has an unusual white dial. Made in 1942/43. Thanks. Carl.

As promised here are a couple of pictures of my Helvetia German Army DH watches. Earlier type on left and late war on right, slightly different dial hands and case.

No, I agree, strap, crown and often crystal are at least replaced. The hands have often lost a lot of their original white paint as well.

Lucky you getting them with provenance from the 'liberators' of them. Which country was this in? Yes, that sort of price is more usual. That type of numbering is the latest type on Helvetia DH watches from about 1944, that type also have the Helvetia serial number inside the case back to help...

I think they tend to be a bit cheaper in the UK, I think British watches are more popular here. The one I received yesterday I paid £150 for and my other last year was £160. As pilot says some makes are a lot more popular than Helvetia though.

Many thanks for posting those Pilot. The 363 is the lowest Helvetia DH number I've seen, the previous one was 428. They go up to about 40,000 which is relatively low for DH numbers and I think all the orders were placed near the beginning of the process though some were not delivered until 1944...

I have two DH Helvetia as well, just received the second one today. Have you read my page on the DH Helvetias on the link I posted? I would be interested in details of yours if I haven't already got them in my records. I think Helvetia actually struggled to keep up with the orders from Germany...

I am normally wearing one of my Helvetia collection. Pioneers of waterproof sports and pilots watches in the 1930s. Also supplied watches to G & M Lane for their Aero and Aeroplane lines. Couple of mine pictured below and an Aero ad. Here is my site for those interested...

    Vintage N1 Jacket

There was no way I was going to buy this jacket and posted the pictures for info. Interesting that it was created by re-enactors. Don't know if it is an original with added art work but it did look quite thin compared to the other one and some modern repros I've seen and did throw up a bit of a...

    Vintage N1 Jacket

Hi, thanks for the reply. I had a nagging feeling I had seen the design before and now I'm sure I've either seen another one of these jackets or pictures of the re-enactors.

    Vintage N1 Jacket

Thanks again for your replies. I will definitely be looking at a Bronson. The guy in the shop mentioned they had another downstairs if I wanted to look at it. Thought I'd post some pics of it for interest. Too much for me at £275 but really interesting. Says 60s on the label but I thought it...

    Vintage N1 Jacket

Many thanks for all your replies. I was aware it was a civilian jacket and it is interesting to hear about the potential age. To be honest I think it might be slightly more recent than it looks. It may also be an unworn second I think. There are some slight issues with the stitching on the...

    Vintage N1 Jacket

Hello all, I've seen this N1 Jacket in a shop near me. Advertised as 1960s. It's going for a bit more than I'd like to pay but wanted to see if it was worth haggling. I could only get a couple of quick photos. What do people think? Is it what they say it is? Thanks. Carl

Can anyone help ID this lovely old leather I Found?

Hi Ken, is this what you mean about the cord? This is a jacket I picked up recently, I was thinking it was 80s but perhaps it's a bit older. Certainly in the 50s style. I would be interested in what you think, no label but i got it from France and I think it may be Chevignon? Interesting...
