No- honestly- nothing can beat the look of a vintage G-1 type jacket- I wear a WW2 one, 2 Korean War ones and 2 60's types. With the goatskin you really don't have to worry- and from the late 40's on the stitching was nylon. I have had no issues with the stitching on my WW2 Church and I sometimes wonder if cotton was ever really used on Navy M-422s and M-422As. (a topic for another day).

All that being said- I had an almost perfect Rough Wear 18091 size 46 that I really regret having sold- BUT- I never was comfortable wearing it.

In the 1970s and 80s I wore original A-2s all the time. I think I still would wear one with the right combination of no historical value (I think a lot of that is fake anyway- again- another topic for the future), enough wear to justify wearing it a bit more and solid stitching and leather.

1. Depends on the condition of the leather and size. I have some M422A's in good shape but size 38 or 40 are too small now for me. I have a 7823, and 7823D's and a 7823E which are in daily wear condition and an M-69 which is perfect but only worn on very cold nights.

Most of my daily wear, except for the 1940's M-69, are G-1's from either the 1950's or 1960's.
I do have a 1940's A2 but, although it is large enough and very supple, I don't wear it. It was my father's. I made a tribute jacket to him, which is also from the 40's that I do wear from time to time.
