SteveIs it me or do I see two sets of stitch holes suggesting two different patches may have been fitted. Probably my eyes playing tricks.
Chicago blackhawks?Took some photos of the lining stitch holes as they appear to be clearer. You just have to reverse the view when trying to determine what patch was sewn on. View attachment 138029View attachment 138031
Maybe you could make a tracing on paper and cut it out. Might be easier to recognize the shape when you’re looking at patches.Took some photos of the lining stitch holes as they appear to be clearer. That’s a good idea . Have to get some tracing paper .Maybe you could make a tracing on paper and cut it out. Might be easier to recognize the shape when you’re looking at patches.
At first I thought you were joking but after I looked at the patch , it’s very close but I think that there’s a couple of small differences between the patch and the stitch marks . But good call !!73rd Fighter Squadron, Barflies.
My apologies Steve … I now see what Silver Surfer and you are referring to .Is it me or do I see two sets of stitch holes suggesting two different patches may have been fitted. Probably my eyes playing tricks.
I see what you're seeing on the outside of the jacket, but not on the lining. There are two sets of ghost stitching . The second going through the center in a curve, and doubling up on the left side. However, this does not indicate two different patches were stitched on the jacket to my eyes. It looks like a multi piece construction patch was stitched on and some of the stitching was done to attach two pieces together, while attaching it to the jacket. The curvature of the inside stitching is something like the eye on one of the night fighters patches…….sorta.
Wow! I think that is extremely close! Nice job!I assume it could be a version of the 326th Bomber Squadron patch, just assuming. Something like:
