i believe that the jackets were boxed and shipped with type and size of jacket stamped on the box and shipped to depots for issue. That is a awesome original B3! probaly could be worn lightly or to show off but 80 year old sheepskin just dosent hold up like horsehide.
Just saw pics on here of a gentleman with his 5* dubow 27798 A2 20 months into wear. He was also a bit disappointed at first but the jackets is looking pretty good with some good grain and texture. I expect the Bronco would improve with age and wear.
If you do a comparison on the epulates on the 5* A2 in profile and a Bronco horsehide A2 on the GW site with John also in profile you see that the GW epulates are at a zero degree angle ( flat) to the shoulder, and the 5* profile shot has the epulates at a almost 45 degree angle going foward on...
It is a very nice looking B3. It seems to have most of the details that make it look authenic and would be a great sheepskin type jacket for someone that might faint at Eastman/Goodwear prices and wait times. The spec tag looks really good also.
And another possibility is that the AAF supplied the labels to the contractor but in some cases, like the 27753 jacket, the contractor had not been assigned so the AAF simply had the labels made up then simply sent them to whoever was given or awarded the contract for that A2 order. No name...
That’s true. I missed a really nice RW for sale by Andrew a while back. If I only saw it a few hours earlier. Oh well maybe one day. What is so odd to me is that Roughwear pumped out 10s of thousands of A2s. Maybe close to 100000 jackets from 1938 to 1944 but they don’t seem to be available in...
