Whats the magic with japanese made A2's?

So the RMC prices are adapted to the living standard of the Japanese. Even if the generalities about the standard of living of Japanese people bother me a bit:

"In October 2009, Japan's Labor Ministry released a report which stated that almost one in six Japanese, which would be 22 million people, lived in poverty."

Probably getting to be like a lot of the countries these days. Your either rich or poor. Not much in between.

I think Zu Zu nailed it earlier in this thread. I have talked with people who have lived in Japan and have asked them what the deal is with these. I'm told there's a pride in Japanese-made (or at least, marketed) there and that a superior item made elsewhere won't sell for as much there.
It's also, I'm told, that there is value in a high cost item for the sake of something that isn't inexpensive. A bragging factor, if you will, but if you have two flight jackets that are identical in how they're made and how accurate they are, even if they're Japanese made/marketed, the most expensive one will sell more because it's a thing to pride yourself for wearing something like that which cost a lot more.
There was an event at the aviation museum in Seattle several years ago and there was an American sales rep for Real McCoys and he agreed this was the likely reason for this.

And they’re very fashion conscious in that part of the world. My brothers wife is Japanese and I’ve got some South Korean buddies. When I used to work with them , at the end of the shift they would get out out of their dirty mechanics clothes, shower and put on their civies for the drive home. They were barely recognizable. Right into the latest styles, haircuts etc. No track suits on these dudes. Definitely take pride in their looks.

Apologies upfront if all your comments are a bit amusing for someone living working/earning in …Japan…S-Korea… and Asia in general… since approx. 6 years.
First hand info…
In Japan ( similar in S-Korea ) … my driver makes net net net ( a bit complicated to compare with EU socialist/ union driven standards ) 4800 Euro net net net.( mostly all deducted compared to EU standards ).
His wife working in a 7/11 makes approx 3000 Euro for the same standard…
They rent a bit of property all in all for approx 5500 euro… all per month…
A 2500 Euro plus plus ..once an a while „ hobby pleasure „ is nothing for them… plus the prestige… plus the no other fun syndrome…
They go and are glad to pay 10.000 Euro per 10 days vacation „ à la japonaise „ in any country ( ya..almost.. except not in strike unrest north Africa garbage striken France anymore ) ..of this globe
Just to meditate and compare …
BTW… retirement age in Japan ? S-Korea ? what’s that? :)
Maybe it helps to understand…
No offence.. no ranting intended.
"EU socialist/union driven standards"

"north African garbage stricken France"

Jeez...

Speaking of…does anyone know when Buzz did the Dubow 27798 contract. I found one that fits me beautifully at a local thrift shop! Truly one of the best hauls ever for me.

Again apologies… my report is not from 8 years ago or so …but… today.. nowadays in Japan and S- Korea …
sorry for all socialistics mishaps now occurring…” la gande Nation”
Bad for la Grande Nation … economy…many partners now even an even EU partners ask for confirmed L/C for international payments… with France…France as well as many EU States went so up in banking ratings… wow… same like Afrique… Afghanistan .. and alike…
Merci aux gros cons mis en place!!!
Ah yes, the familiar stench of labor hate and raw racisism...

Don't apologize, buddy. When someone bull horns in no uncertain terms who and what they are, I take their word for it.

Forget about any potential consideration on my part regarding your products or business with you in any way, shape or form.

do not wanna burst any bubbles but exactly the brands which are discussed here are - at least at some percentage - are produced in China ...

between 2007 and 2013 (do not know how it works nowadays) it was pretty easy to get EVERY garment on TAO BAO less the factory badges ... - means they just cut 'em out or didn't sew them in

back then i wasn't into premium-brand flightjackets but when checking for ALPHA and AVIREX stuff i regularly came across McCoys jackets - they even used the same photos like the japanese but asked just for a fraction of the prices we have to pay when we order the regular way

Well this was indeed 10 years back and things might have changed ...

Me personally i'm not willing to pay such an amount for stuff i get in similar quality somewhere else

i think initially the garment was produced in majority for the japanese market - hence the price and the lack of larger sizes???

in the automotive industry i learned Japanese stand out over all other nations in their understanding of quality and expectation in terms of design and craftmanship. This is the reason why the VPC (vehicle preparation center) for imported Mercedes in Japan is 3 times the size of a standard VPC around the globe: japanese customers complain about even the smallest dots or scratches which are not even noted in the VPCs in the US and China for example

i work a lot with South Korean companies and got a similar impression ...

Not any idea about Japanese though but they are absolutely top-notch in their styles for customized motorcycles and also riding gear and equipment for motorcyclists

in my experience they don't do anything by 50% or 70% - they do everything with full dedication and 120% or otherwise they just leave it alone

Outsourcing to China effects almost everything now. Even aircraft. I spent many years working on dash8 aircraft 100,200 and 300 series. When they came out with the q400 they outsourced quite a bit to China and Mexico. And it shows. Nothing but problems. Reliability took a huge nosedive.

in the automotive quality of the Mercedes we produced in China was actually similar to the vehicles we build in Germany

different picture in Mexico - i worked there for 3 years and struggled a lot with the mexican understandig of "Quality"

Japanese quality with many things is beautiful. I have a deep love for many Japanese things which comes from my love and practice of Kenjutsu/Iaido and Bujinkan. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a katana from a well known Japanese maker but when it comes to an A-2, sorry I'd go American and be emailing John ;-)
