This pic shows the colour very differently... this is the B-3 I love. I am amazed it looked whiter in the other pics....

It's a type of decay found in old leather. It appears most commonly in conserving old books, but leather jackets can suffer from it too. Two of the big causes for it are how the leather good is stored and how it was tanned, so either can be a cause. Google has a lot of good photos:

This A2, Leather, Pilot/Flight jacket displays a painted back, squadron patch, and size '40'. The front of the jacket displays the painted 5" patch of the 713th Bomber Squadron flying out of England during WW II.

Yeah, I'm starting to suspect that's what happened: 2 or 3 contracts were REALLY prone to red rot (Aviator's Clothing Co, for example), while others (Pritzker, Star, maybe Foster) were solid, but the bad ones gave the whole jacket designation a bad reputation among collectors.

Just done a last dog walk, cold night for Madrid, liking the new vintage jacket, the Spanish made it looser like a M-A1 in the body, and no mouton lining, orange quilted means I can get stuff underneath so it's not quite a B15 slim but I like it like this

Aww hell yeah! That’s a beauty! Does it have some combat cloning? Looks like it’s had a bit of the shine taken off of it.
You just inspired me to root out a pair of those gloves finally haha they were always so expensive here before, just found a pair in Barcelona for 20 euros

I acquired an original about 2 mounts ago and was impressed at how Buzz did a good job. Nor perfect but very close.

That looks awesome and warm and love the gloves. How old is it? I wear my aero merino Irvin occasionally, but just find it awkward to wear in the London suburbs although the temperature is getting lower and my family is used to me wandering about the house with it.Eastman Irvin, A-10 gloves and watch cap, perfect
