WAAC Skirt

Earlier this week I bought this WAAC summer uniform skirt for a great price, given the flaws. Needs some cleaning and a new button, but the cotton twill is still nice and sturdy (and if the stains don’t come out, it wasn’t that much money in the first place.

Where I could use some help from you all is in deciphering the markings. Even though it’s a women’s skirt and whoever is reading this is most likely not a woman, army markings are army markings. It’s stamped “XT2484” in multiple places inside the waistband, and there’s something written in by the zipper that I can’t quite make out. Stamping the first letter of you last name and the last four digits of your service number seems to have been standard practice, but that wouldn’t explain why there are two letters. The longer written part could maybe be a longer version of the service number, but I can’t read it well enough to be sure of the format. WAAC service numbers were formatted A-###### for enlisted, V-###### for warrant officers, and L-###### for officers.

(I also have a couple pics of the zipper as thumbnails, on the off chance that anyone is interested in zippers on NON-jacket uniform pieces)
