VC-21 patch is this a 1940's-50's patch original?

just won this patch, just wondered if it was a 50's patch or repro, the unit changed it patch design in 1955, so if its original it predates this right?. .Any ideas?

Patch arrived today, and I think its a 50's patch, I've never seen one before so have nothing to compare it to apart from sketch in a book, searched all over the web, can't find a thing. Here are some better pics, would love some help here!
