Unknown leather jacket

I came across this pics of Dutchmen at Jackson Military Flying School in the USA during WW2.

One of the guys is wearing a leather jacket. It is certainly not a Dutch flying jacket and it doesn't look military to me.

Any ideas?

I'm 99% certain we've had a chinwag about this photo and that jacket here at VLJ some years back.

It's all a bit rusty but I think the general consensus was that it was private purchase.
