Squadron patches painted on or sewn on?

A question to you experts from a novice...

Do you prefer squadron patches and AAF patches painted directly onto the jacket or painted on leather and sewn on? Which would actually be more authentic? I'd like to customize my G&B Mark 41.

I'm sure both were common, but I prefer the painted leather patch myself.

Yes both were used.
I prefer the leather patches..either painted or leather layered..something like these...

Leather or fabric group/squadron patches sewn to the jacket were more common. But there are also numerous examples of unit insignia painted directly onto a jacket. Both are kosha. What's a Mark 41?
