Sizing on a B-3

Thanks everyone for the sizing advice. I took a chance on a size 42 ELC from Drifterproductions after they told me they do exchanges, and the fit was spot on.

Wow I love that fit on you. I want mine trim like that but worried I won’t be able to move my arms. I have a 44 and love it but sometimes I wonder what a 42L would be like..

So, this seems as good a place as any to ask, what the heck are these little tabs of leather hanging off the shoulder for?

I'd seen them on all the pictures of B-3s, so I knew mine would have them as well, but I'm not sure why they were part of the original design.

Regarding sizing my B-3 is a 44 which was my size when I bought the jacket more than 20 years ago. Nowadays I am wearing size 46 jackets mostly but the 44 B-3 still also fits... Granted the shearling has worn down a little which provides some additional room inside but in my case, one size smaller does seem to work too...

The little tabs were, I believe, originally included in the design as an attachment point for rank insignia.
